Osun Police Arrest Medical Doctor for Allegedly Killing Taxi Driver, Carting away His Vehicle

Osun State Police Command yesterday arrested a self-acclaimed medical doctor, Abbas Adio, for allegedly killing a taxi driver, Emmanuel Oyiobo, by injecting him with substance.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opolola, while parading the ‘fake medical doctor’ alongside other suspects at the police headquarters in Osogbo, said the suspect hired a taxi driver who was driving him around for the days he (suspect) spent in Benin-city, the Edo State capital.

Opalola further explained that the suspect travelled from Kwara State to Benin-city in July, and allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry car from the victim (Oyiobo) before he eventually killed him.

She said the suspect claimed to be a medical doctor working in one of the hospitals in Kwara State during the investigation by the security operatives.

According to PPRO, “A distress call received by the Edo State Police Command that a Toyota Camry car was snatched in Benin-city and tracked to Osun State, prompted the Police Command to swiftly put security mechanism in place, and the car was intercepted on Ejigbo/Ogbomoso road while the occupant was arrested.

“The suspect, who travelled from Kwara State to Benin-city in Edo State sometimes in July this year, met one Emmanuel Oyiobo, a taxi driver, who drove him for the days he spent in Benin-city.

Thereafter, the suspect and the deceased became friends and exchanged phone numbers and have been communicating since then.

“The suspect communicated to his friend (victim) in Benin-city that he wanted to sell his car and they agreed that the suspect should bring the car to Benin-city where it was sold for N1.4million.

“The suspect, in the course of his stay in Benin-city after selling his car, trickily injected his friend (deceased) with a substance suspected to have killed him on September 3, 2022.

“He subsequently dumped his corpse in a nearby bush and made away his white Toyota Camry.”

However, the PPRO said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
